Kept on waitin' for a sign in the middle of the night...

Still hanging in there. Still prepping for trial. Missing the hell outta my kids.

These are the songs that are getting me through this month:
  • "Hold On" by KT Tunstall

  • "Walcott (Insane Mix)" by Vampire Weekend

  • "Lazy Eye" by Silversun Pickups

  • "Mary Mac" by Carbon Leaf

  • "Young Folks" by Peter Bjorn and John

  • "Couldn't Get it Right" by Climax Blues Band

  • "The Underdog" by Spoon

  • "Turn to Stone" by ELO

  • "Rockin' the Suburbs" by Ben Folds

  • "Honey Don't Think" by Grant Lee Buffalo

  • "Saint of Me" by the Rolling Stones

Any of my real-life friends reading this, I promise I will see you again once this is all over.

In less than 7 weeks, I get my life back. Must remember my law school cliches (it's a marathon, not a sprint and so forth).

Thank you, Fridge Phonics!

ALB, who is not as verbal as his older brother was at this age or even younger (but who is, honestly?), knows some letters! He knows "O" and "E" and "W."

Maybe he's spelling "WOE."

Or "OWE."

I've been swamped before, and I'll handle it (thanks for your encouraging comments). But really, I've got nothing on Prince Humperdink:

"I've got my country's 500th anniversary to plan, my wedding to arrange, my wife to murder and Guilder to frame for it; I'm swamped."

(Caught TPB on TV while working from home tonight. Chris Sarandon is hot, even when - or maybe that's especially when - he's evil.)

That foot is me

I am so far up to my eyeballs in work, I couldn't cry even if I wanted to because the tears would have no place to go. I just had to cancel my summer vacation (anybody want to sublet our rental?). Plus, all the stress at work has led to some in-fighting that makes my stomach hurt.

But at 10:30, NSAH suggested we put in the DVD of Animal House. And all is now right with the world.

Home again, jiggity jig

I am somewhat jealous of Quinn. Her home state is freakin' gorgeous, and everyone is so nice. The rain is a tad overdone, so I wouldn't want to live there. But it's a nice place to visit. I hope to take the kids there someday, when I emerge from the prison that is work.

Want to hear something heartbreaking? I came home late (i.e., post bedtimes) again tonight, but I had promised AB I would go in and kiss him, even if he was asleep. He actually was awake, albeit drowsy, when I went in. We hugged and smooched, and then he asked, "Mommy, are you going back to work?" *sigh* "No, honey, I'm not going back to work. I'll be across the hall." "Good."
