Pre-election random thought

How low would gas prices have to drop to get people to stop talking about the Foley/GOP coverup scandal?

Just wondering.

Am I too cynical, or was the Foley thing brought up to distract us from, say, the torture/habeas corpus/ripping up the Constitution thing?

No, Quinn, I'm sure you're not too cynical. I have wondered much the same.

Didja all see that Foley's aide alerted Hastert's office to the problem over 2 years ago?

Yeah.

Apparently everyone in the States can "understand this scandal" (according to Talk of the Nation yesterday).

But the gutting of habeas corpus or the approval of torture or the misuse of intelligence to justify a pre-planned war against Saddam Hussein, those are all waaaaay too complicated.

What kills me is that I said to the guy I carpool with,
Huh, lower gas prices, must be an election coming up AND HE HADN'T EVEN THOUGHT OF THAT.

Grrr.

And I completely agree with Quinn.
