This is how lame I am

At 9:41 on a Tuesday night, I'm reviewing documents while listening to (among other songs) Andrew Gold's "Lonely Boy" on iTunes.

... you know, I probably shouldn't be listening to this song in my current state:

In the summer of '53 his mother
Brought him a sister
And she told him we must attend to her needs
She's so much younger than you
Well he ran down the hall and he cried
Oh how could his parents have lied
When they said he was an only son
He thought he was the only one

Oh what a lonely boy
Oh what a lonely boy
Oh what a lonely boy

Anyway, still mulling over last post's big issue. But, as you can see, I'm still here for now.

OH, but APL, what you'll see is that the new baby will mean AB is not lonely at all! The best thing about having two is seeing them interact. They can entertain each other for hours. Really.
(Glad you're still here!)

Yeah, POW, I know you're right. I just thought it was a funny coincidence that I was listening to a song with those lyrics right now. :-)

By the way, since it bears mentioning: I hate Florida. That is all.

OOOH, that second child is such a good thing for the first one. It changed OD's life. Now as she heads off to college, I see how close is the bond...they are feeling it.

Seriously, that song gets me every time I hear it.

As for the semi-unknown person, I have to say that I understand completely how you feel.

AB is going to be sad and angry, but also happy.

Zoo?

Liz, every morning he asks to go to the zoo instead of school! This weekend looks like it might be yucky, though--we should play it by ear. Definitely soon if not this weekend, though!

Your kids will be about the same spread as mine, right? So, yeah, he might be lonely for a little while. But if the new baby is as verbal as AB, he'll stop being lonely just as soon as he can converse with him or her. Now LG tells me at least once a day how nice it is to have a sister around.

AB will love being a big brother, especially once the baby moves beyond being quite so baby-ish.

Play up the idea of him being the big brother; he will love the role. I am glad you are still here.

I'm not sure how I missed the announcement of this, but congratulations!

I've got an only, so I'm no help on the sibling thing. Sometimes I think that Matt is the last kid on earth who ought to have been an only, but maybe it's just because I feel for any kid who has my undivided attention. Heh.

And, as you can well imagine, I totally hate Florida.

Heh, I don't think you'll be surprised to hear that I ALSO hate Florida. Ick.

Ab will love a sibling, I'm sure of it. That little lovey has so much love to give!

Billy Donovan can kiss my lily white ass, as an old friend of mine used to say.

Then again, UCLA can bite me, too.

And what is there to say about the women? Yeah, I'm glad Duke lost, but screw Maryland, since they beat us.

Crap. And now there's only baseball.

Wow, that song takes me back!

I agree with what everyone else said about making AB feel good about the big brother role. My family did the same thing with our nephew.
