As seen everywhere

but I first saw this at Scrivenings:

You are Linus!

Which Peanuts Character are You?
brought to you by Quizilla

I've seen Reruns and Marcies and Snoopys and Woodstocks. I don't know that I've seen a Linus. Anyone else get Linus? (And I don't know for sure, but I don't think people think I'm stupid.)

I'm no fan of Peanuts, but I think Linus is usually protrayed as the "hopeful" one: world peace, etc. ever the optimist, while his sister Lucy is full of negativity. Thanks for the female bias, Schulz.

I never thought of Linus as being stupid, either. I don't think this particular quiz really got at the essence of Peanuts, you know?

I am Lucy. It says everyone thinks I am ditz. I don't really like that.

I don't think Schulz intended to portray Linus as "stupid." He sits around waiting for the Great Pumpkin EVERY YEAR -- something that could be described as a pure, admirable faith or as unrelenting ignorance, depending on your own outlook. Lucy probably thinks he's stupid. Sally is drawn to his promise of hope. Charlie Brown can't quite decide if Linus is foolish or enlightened, but envies his trusting openness either way.

I didn't quite see how the questions led to the answers--I wouldn't describe either you or Linus in exactly those terms. This particular little quiz feels a little disappointing. (fwiw, I got Franklin).

I meant to post that I am Sally. That is what I get trying to think after a certain hour. Or maybe I AM a ditz :)

I've had it up to here with Quizilla! I agree your commenters: I don't think that's an accurate description of Linus at all. I speak in my capacity as self-appointed Peanuts expert!

I got Franklin, too. I was wondering if the assigning question was just the astrology?!

Don't blame Quizilla, Oscar. Blame the individual quizmakers (most of which can't be more than 15, to judge from the grammar and subject matter of the quizzes).

And a big welcome to Washington Cube!

I'm Schroeder. I think it has something to do with playing guitar, but I'm not sure... it said something about "frequent bouts of neurosis." Um... okay.

I'm jealous. I took that internet quiz way back in March 04 and really, really wanted to be Linus because he is my favorite Peanuts character. There is a little Linus figurine on my desk at work. (And, just so you know, there are no other cute little figurines in my office.) When I took the test, I got Shroeder. I don't have anything against Shroeder, but I wanted to be Linus -- so I took the test again. On my second try, I was Rerun. WTF! Who is Rerun? Surely, they didn't mean Rerun from What's Happening.

Anyway, below is the description of Linus from the official Peanuts website. I think it is way more accurate than the description from the internet quiz.

"Linus Van Pelt inspired the term "security blanket" with his classic pose. He is the intellectual of the gang, and flabbergasts his friends with his philosophical revelations and solutions to problems. He suffers abuse from his big sister, Lucy, and the unwanted attentions of Charlie Brown's little sister, Sally. He is a paradox: despite his age, he can put life into perspective while sucking his thumb. He knows the true meaning of Christmas while continuing to believe in the Great Pumpkin."
