A: Ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. OK.
Q: What was my reaction upon checking the digital cable guide to determine why our DVR hadn't been recording "Sesame Street" this week, as we'd set it up to do?
Yeah, so I didn't realize PBS was showing the Roberts hearings. We have them on at work, but on some cable news channel.

So are you like our family, who DVR Sesame Street everyday until you have 10-15 episodes, and then your precious offspring wants a specific episode ["Elmo Sky, Mommy, Elmo Sky!!!"] and you don't know which one it is? I have added to my to do list "catalog Ses. episodes" to keep handy. How nerdy is THAT?
Heh. I don't envy you there. We've got the DVR set up so that it only saves an episode for 2 days. There are a handful that we've gone in and saved permanently (sleepover at Gina's, Cookie Monster writes a story, Karaoke night, the banana in the stone). And I will be SO IMPRESSED if you're familiar with the episodes I'm talking about.
Been there, done that.
Hm, I wonder if that has anything to do with the (temporary?) displacement of Thomas on Wisconsin Public TV -- much to the distress of our toddler, who counts on watching it on the AVR after naptime. (He hasn't quite figured out yet that playback is possible any time of the day or night, and I'm happy letting him put 2 and 2 together.)
Love the Sesame Street karaoke, too, and the one where Baby Bear's parents totally screw up Baby Bear's routines when Curly Bear comes home. We were totally living that one a few months ago.
Oh, in my house the DVR is possessed. The satellite company very often forgets to get an update on a program change.
And it likes to toy with me by cutting off the ends of shows. Of course, we're in Scooby Doo mode here.
My husband says the DVR isn't possessed, otherwise how come I can't get the VCR to tape what I want either? Evil machines.
I know the banana in the stone, and I think we have Karaoke night, although we haven't watched it yet. Maya's favs: Big Bird's story, Furry Happy Monsters (duh), Curly Bear's nap, Natalie Portman working at Hooper's store.
See, I didn't care for the Natalie Portman ones, for a couple of reasons:
(1) she'd lost her voice and the sound of her straining to talk grated on my nerves; and
(2) I just can't watch her in anything without thinking, "YOU WERE SO GOOD IN 'THE PROFESSIONAL' AND 'BEAUTIFUL GIRLS'!!! WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED? SHOULD I BLAME GEORGE LUCAS? 'CAUSE I'LL KICK HIS ASS, I WILL."
I'm impressed that you have and know how to use a DVR. I have basic cable and only figured out last year how to connect a router to a wireless router. Not technogirl here.
