The joys of having girls

Not that I would know. But two recent posts have made me wonder about it:

Lawmummy explains how Barbies are like mushrooms (a hilarious analogy when you read the elucidation).

And Scrivener has photos of the fanciest window-washers you'll ever meet.

Had a great night with my sweet boy. He is quite obsessed with the movie The Aristocats (as opposed to The Aristocrats, which he is not allowed to see until he is at least 11). We watched a good chunk of it tonight before bed. I keep telling him I'll take him to Paris so he can actually see where it takes place. In truth, I could take him to the armpit of America, and as long as he saw cats there, he'd be thrilled.

Thanks for the link that supplied me with a very important visitor!

Laughing at the Lawmummy link. When I only had the boy, I used to feel quite self-righteously sure that Barbies and Disney princesses would never enter my life. But my baby girl already shows a big ol' attraction to all things princess. She went NUTS over the pictures of Scrivener's little window washers.

Sigh. Maybe I ought to try distracting her with the Aristocrats?

My daughter also would be content in any setting as long as there were cats to be looked at, mauled, and chewed on. My poor cats are still not sure what happened to their languorous lives.

Love the Lawmummy link and, of course, Scrivener. But he knows that!

Muffin Man also loves the Aristocats. He's only seen part of it once (at a doctor's office) but it still comes up in conversation. I guess I know which film I need to buy next.

I love "The Aristocats." It's one of the least insipid. Do you have the Beatrix Potter cartoons? That's the reason we own a Collie. "Kep" the Collie dog who is in the beginning of all the videos before the animation starts. How come that dog is never shedding or going nuts over the garbage truck or UPS man. Cats truly aren't as bad.

Our girls Barbies live in some lesbian ball going society. No Kens, ever, no one wanted them. All they ever do is dress them up and make them ride in cars.

They really play with American Girl dolls. Worth the investment, even if they are owned by Mattel now. Nice dolls, look like girls, and the books are good intro books to parts of US history.

If I ever have kids, I desperately want at least one girl to be all girlie like me. Boys are fine, but I hate to miss out on the ribbons, lace, and pink.
