Deconstructing Gwen

Read Kristen's tale of her kids singing their hilarious lyrics to "Hollaback Girl."

It made me laugh out loud a few times, and also reminded me of this funny article, which presents a really good explanation of what Gwen's singing about.

I must confess that at the dance on the last day of school I told a parent the lyrics were "this ship is bananas" instead of "shit". I knew she would never let her kid come to another dance. I am bad.

Oh, that article is so funny. I've got tears in my eyes.

A 6 year old at the pool explained the correct lyrics (with a heavy empahsis on the word "shit" as it relates to "Bananas") to my children, but luckily they were so stuck on the Bat Girl theme, they didn't get it.

I assumed "Hollaback" was a place. Shows you what I know. Not much.

Kids are hilarious! I practically spit up reading that. I remember when me and my sis used to make up lyrics, especially when we heard cuss words. We just made up our own words, so we could sing the song without getting in trouble.

It wasn't amusing at all to see Greg Stacy tear it apart. But then again a man wouldn't understand... Sexism is what she is refering to people. The every day trials of fighting it, and how she can't and won't fight it alone. Wake up already.
