I had to fight back tears when heard the news because Jonas was in the car and I didn't want to upset him. This is a disaster for us, for our children. I am dedicating myself to mobilizing the moderates who remain silent and uninvolved during these vital political debates. AHhhhhhhhhh.

I love this org.

I saw that on the way out to lunch and almost lost my appetite.

Why couldn't it have been Rehnquist? And isn't it scary that S.D. o'C. is a MODERATE on this court.

Shiver is right. I shudder to think what might happen next. Maybe she was paid off to retire early?

As sorry as I am to see her go, and especially to see a space open on the Court during the current administration, I don't think there is any foul play involved. Her husband has Alzheimer's, and she wants to retire and be near him.

Someone wake me up -- I just had a nightmare that O'Connor was retiring.

Ok, I feel badly now because I reread songbird's post and if her family needs her, then so be it. But I'm still upset.
