Great bumper sticker

Saw the following on a bumper sticker on today's walk:

Republicans for Voldemort

Laughed my ass off. Had to explain the joke to NSAH, who isn't up on the Potter world. We both agreed that there needs to be a Republicans for Palpatine sticker if there isn't one yet.

Best bumper sticker ever.

The countdown begins--less than 2 months to the new HP. Do you go and get it at midnight? I took G last time and we had a hoot. The bookstore was crazy--so crowded, and lots of teenagers, even, who you'd think would be too cool.

We can't wait for this one. We'll be dressing up this time--I think I'll be McGonigal, since I have similar glasses.

I love it.

I'm ordering mine from Amazon. It'll get here a few days late, but I bet I'll be finished before you!

Mine's coming from Amazon, too, but I think I'll spend the big bucks to get it overnighted.

My niece was showing me the trailer from Goblet of Fire yesterday... made me remember how anxious I am for the new book!

I'm excited about reading the next one, but I'm not preordering it or anything (please don't hurt me!). I'm sure you'll all be done before me.

So, d'ya think it's true that Dumbledore's gonna die? Or is that just wild rumor to drum up either sales or misplaced betting?

I've got 2 proposals for Episode III stickers: "Only a Sith thinks in absolutes" & "So this is how liberty dies: to thunderous applause."

Great bumper sticker!
Our dilemma is this: five readers under the same roof, each eager to get his/her hands on HP#6. Perhaps we need two copies?
Scrivener, wasn't there the same rumor about the last one?

I heard from a reliable source (G reading Disney Adventures Magazine) that one of the following three will die: Dumbledore, Ron, or Neville. My money's on Neville. Poor guy.

When we got Order of the Phoenix, I wisely did not stay up that night and read it. Instead, I spent all day Saturday and part of Sunday ignoring everyone. Can't wait to do it again.

And Songbird, I think you need 2 copies.

My bet is on Neville dying now, and Dumbledore dying in the last book. Although I could see Dumbledore dying in this book, too. Ack. Why does ANYONE have to die?

It's 50-50 to me whether Harry dies in the end, while we're on the subject. Since it's obvious that Ron & Hermione get to parallel the romantic storyline of Harry's parents, there's some possibility that Harry gets to serve as the Sirius Black figure of the next generation. And Sirius didn't fare well. Then again, I had Neville pegged as the rat of his generation (he seemed to have the fearful incompetence parallels) and then Rowling pleasantly, happily surprised me. So mabye I've been pushing the generational parallels too much.

There are so MANY possible Voldemort victims, and so many possible twists involving (or not involving) Snape, that it's hard to know what will happen next.

I wish I had the discipline to read only a few chapters at a time. I've never managed to make a single book last more than 24 hours so far....

Oh, and about Harry Potter: if you order on Amazon, they promise, and I quote:

"Select Standard Shipping and your book is guaranteed to arrive on the release date of Saturday, July 16, or we will refund the cost of your book."

If you select Free Standard Shipping, it comes a few days later. But you do not need to have it overnighted to get it on the release date.

The little details that keep life happy....

Holy crapola. All you did was mention Harry Potter and your blog turned into a damn Pottie convention! Perhaps I shouldn't be so surprised?

*whispers* I guess now probably isn't the best time to admit that I haven't read any of the books, is it?

We actually own books 1-4, Liz. They were a baby shower gift for Angry Boy from a friend of ours. I plan to read them to him when he's old enough. That will be the first time I crack 'em open--we'll enjoy them together.

That's a really nice idea. I love reading the books to G and we get a huge kick out of them. E thinks it's hilarious to watch, because she crawls all up on top of me and we become one person for a while (again).

My husband and I have actually read all of the Harry Potter books outloud to each other. No, not to the kids, who are way too young for them (and who weren't born when we started).

But I'm not sure we're going to do it with the next one. We read about 1/2 a chapter a night, which means that the last one took about 4 months to read. And it wasn't that good!

Supposedly, there were a whole bunch of people that just recently placed maximum $50 pound bets that Dumbledore would die in the next book with the British bookies. Somebody looked into it and all of the rash of bets came from the same town where the printers who are cranking out the next book are located, so speculation is that someone at the press got a peek and let the information slip.

That's about all I know, and there's no good reason to believe any of it. I saw one person saying she'd rather Rowling kill off Harry himself.

I've read all the books, and I think they are pretty good. I'm not any kind of huge fan or anything, though. Mostly, I like them out of nostalgia for a time when I would have loved them. I agree with Elizabeth, the last one wasn't all that good.
