Please don't revoke my license

On "Jeopardy" tonight, one of the categories was "Latin Legal Terms."

Sad to say, I did not run the category. I missed the last "question," which was "What is persona non grata?"

*hangs head in shame*

I never run the literature categories either, cause they always ask about popular literature, much of which I haven't read.

Same here, geeky mom. When I play stuff like trivial pursuit, I do terrible in the literature category because it's always biographies of famous celebrities that I've never heard of.

One of the essay exams when I took the bar exam was a question on remedies where the question listed a half a dozen remedies (all latinate phrases) and all but one I had never heard of. The question had a fact pattern and then said explain all the remedies and why/why not it would be a good option in the scenario. I spent the next 30 minutes or so just completely making shit up. My opinion has always been, if a lawyer is throwing around latin phrases they don't know what the hell they are talking about. Res ipsa loquitor--the thing never speaks for itself is someone has to say res ipsa loquitor.
